HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – At about 9:30 Thursday evening, Havre Police received a call that an injured man had walked into the Budget Inn severely injured.
Lieutenant Aaron Wittmer said the officers arrived, they found an unresponsive man who was bleeding badly. He had several lacerations to his head and face, as well as some internal injuries. He was taken to Northern Montana Hospital and later transported to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls in critical condition.
Wittmer says the victim did say he was attacked by two males. As part of the investigation, officers spoke with James Daychild at his home and noticed he had fresh injuries on his knuckles and blood on him. Daychild allowed officers in the home, where they allegedly found more blood and one shoe matching the victims.
Daychild was arrested and officers seized evidence from the home after obtaining a search warrant.
