Havre High School will once again be in the spotlight this weekend. Marc Mariani, a former three-sport athlete who chose to play football in college and was drafted into the NFL, will take his place in another Montana Hall of Fame. He is set to be inducted into the Montana Football Hall of Fame, along with four former players, two legacies, and one support person.
Mariani starred for the Blue Ponies on the gridiron from 2002-2005. He helped lead the 2004 Havre High football team to an undefeated season that led to the first state Class ‘A’ title for the school since 1970. He went on to play wide receiver for the University of Montana Grizzlies and then landed in the NFL for five seasons, becoming a Pro Bowl special teamer.
Mariani will now have a career that lands him in the Montana Football Hall of Fame, the Montana High School Association Hall of Fame, and University of Montana Hall of Fame. All of his inductions have taken place within the last three years.
The Montana Football Hall of Fame recently announced that the last Saturday in June will now be known as “Montana Football Hall of Fame Day”. The festivities get going in Billings starting on Friday with the enshrinement taking place on Saturday night.
The full list of this weekend’s inductees is available on HiLineToday.com in the local sports section.
