The Chinook Sugarbeeters will open another season of football in the coming weeks. The Beeters finished last year with a (3-4) overall record, including (2-3) in North 8-man conference play. The first day of practice has been scheduled for this coming Thursday, Aug. 16.
With the underclassmen core returning for another season and improvement on the horizon, the Sugarbeeters will open at home against 2022 state champions and defending state runner up Belt on Aug. 30. Homecoming will be at Hoon Field on Sept. 27 as the Beeters play Shelby, which was a competitive game last season on the road.
Chinook will play an opponent that has never been to the area before in football as the Seeley Swan Blackhawks from the west will venture to town for an Oct. 11 meeting, which will be senior night.
Unlike last season, the Sugarbeeters will have eight guaranteed football games before thinking ahead to the playoffs, which begin with the first round on Nov. 2.
