(Havre) The City of Havre is reportedly looking into ways of sheltering homeless people during the cold winter months using temporary shelters.
The City Council commented during Monday’s meeting about “looking into” methods of doing so after Trina Crawford, Executive Director of the Havre Salvation Army Emergency Services Center, used the public comment period to voice her concern about the cold winter months being deadly for those who may be stuck without shelter.
Mayor Doug Kaercher has asked the Public Works Department to look into city ordinance as it pertains to temporary placements in the city, or if there’s anything that would prevent these pop-up shelters.
More information to come as it’s made available.
