(Havre) Some passing through town may have seen those holding signs urging Havre residents to vote no on CI-128, which would be a self-described enshrinement of the right to abortion in the Montana Constitution if passed.
New Media Broadcasters spoke with Karissa Springer, Board Member of the Hi-Line Pregnancy Resource Center and organizer of the demonstrations, to hear more on their viewpoint.
“I think one of the big issues that I have with this initiative is the vague language that is used. I believe that if we’re voting on a change to our constitution, we need to know exactly what we’re voting for. For me, a good rule of thumb would be if you don’t know what’s in it, don’t vote for it. So, I think with this initiative, there’s an opportunity for either hidden or unintended consequences after it has passed and when it’s too late”
Canvassers for Montanan’s Securing Reproductive Rights, which is the pro-128 initiative, were also available for comment, which will air on all New Media stations on Sunday, November 3rd.
