Earlier this month, Big Sandy senior athlete Eva Yeadon signed her letter of intent to play basketball at MSU-Northern starting in the fall of 2025.
Yeadon originally grew up in Malta, but transferred to Big Sandy after her freshman season. During her junior year, Yeadon turned heads by producing at a high level on the court, averaging over 20 points and almost nine rebounds per game and willing her team out of the Northern ‘C’ Divisional Tournament and into the state tournament for the first time since 2009. Because of her growth, the 5-foot-8 guard was invited for the first time in her career to play in Josh Huestis’ Montana Elite Invitational this past Memorial Day weekend.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Eva Yeadon….her teammates, coaches and family were at the gym with her to celebrate her success. It was an amazing day,” Big Sandy head coach Travis Baumann said in a statement to New Media Broadcasters. “As good of a basketball player she is, she is an even better person. The Skylights are getting a winner, hard worker, and exceptional teammate.”
Yeadon has been 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-State, and a captain of the Lady Pioneers during her basketball days at Big Sandy. She also participates in club ball for the famed Northwest Blazers and is a three-sport athlete, playing volleyball (where she was named All-Conference and All-State this fall) with track and field duties in the spring.
“She is a very athletic player who brings a lot to the table and she’s had an incredibly successful high school career,” Northern head coach Chris Mouat said in a press release. “She scores, rebounds, and does a lot of little things right.”
Baumann gave New Media Broadcasters a stat, saying that Yeadon is the first Lady Pioneer basketball player to play in college since Laci Keller, who also signed by coach Mouat and the Skylights before the 2009-2010 season.
Yeadon plans to pursue a degree in integrated health science when she arrives at Northern next fall. She will have one last dance with the Lady Pioneers for 2024-25 before moving back up to the Hi-Line.
