MSU-Northern basketball has been business as usual after pulling off the upset of Montana Tech on Saturday. New Media Broadcasters spoke to head coach Shawn Huse about the next challenges as his team will host Montana Western for the final time this season before hitting the road to Rocky Mountain.
Huse first discussed the Bulldogs and what makes them so dynamic this year.
“Western is a preseason No. 2 in our league, so they’re no easier out than anybody else. That’s for sure,” Huse said. “We’re going to have to be ready to go.”
“They’ve got a lot of weapons out there. They’ve got good size,” Huse continued. “They can go inside. They can go outside. They can give you fits, defensively.”
The last time the Lights were in Billings, they upset the then-ranked Battlin’ Bears, (81-69). Huse gave his analysis on the verge of seeing them a third time through.
“You’ve just got to battle with their inside presence and their guards that have the ability to get it going from the outside,” Huse said.
“They have a team that’s got all the pieces,” Huse continued. “They do some things offensively a little bit different than Western. They do some things defensively different than Western.”
“At the end of the day, it’s about all the same stuff,” Huse said.
The Northern men (8-16, 2-9) will be home to play Montana Western on Thursday with coverage starting around 7pm. The Lights hit the road for a Saturday afternoon game against Rocky Mountain in Billings at 4pm. KPQX-92.5FM and HiLineToday.com will have both contests with Tony Vigliotti calling Thursday night.
