Havre Basketball Gets Big Wins Over Laurel

Havre basketball ended the 2024-25 regular season with sweeps over Laurel on Saturday at the Blue Pony Corral. The boys’ started things off with a (59-45) victory, while the girls’ ran away from the Lady Locos, (70-50).

The boys’ (9-9) had a balanced attack and had a pivotal third quarter, outscoring the Locomotives, (15-6). The key highlight was the first basket of the second half for senior point guard Tre Gary, which put him over 1,000 career points. He would be one of three Ponies in double-figures on this night with 10, along with Dax Ostwalt’s game-high 19 and Matt Huse’s 14.

The Havre girls’ (16-2) were not able to stop a Kaitlyn Dantic wrecking crew as the UM track and field commit had herself a night with six 3-pointers. Her teammates could not keep up in the offensive end and Havre was able to dominate from the jump. Amaya Jarvis went for a team-high 19 points, while Ela Harbor and Ariana Gary each had 13 points.

Havre will be back at MetraPark Arena in Billings one week from Thursday for the Eastern ‘A’ Divisional basketball tournament to kick off postseason play. The girls’ will be the No. 1 seed out of the Northeastern ‘A’ and the boys’ will be the No. 3 seed. All Havre basketball games can be heard on KOJM-610AM, 98.3FM, and HiLineToday.com starting Feb. 27.
