With football in its offseason across the country, Ian Dalgarno and Cody Hoehn decided that now was the best time to announce their commitments for what they want to do next fall. Last week, the pair of CMR Rustlers out of Great Falls officially signed with MSU-Northern and will put on the pads for the Lights.
Dalgarno, a 5-foot-11 safety at CMR, also played basketball and will finish his high school career on the track and field stage. He shared with SWX NonStop Local what all the hard work has meant to him as he will head to Havre in a few months.
“All the recruiting and stuff that’s been going on, it’s finally over,” Dalgarno said. “I’d like to say that it wasn’t sometimes because of the fun trips me and my father had.”
“But four years of hard work paid off at CMR High School,” Dalgarno continued. “Now, going up north two hours from home is really nice.”
He will be joined by Hoehn, who will bulk up the offense as a 6-foot-3 lineman. He also shared his appreciation for the recruiting process and how excited he is to get going up at Northern.
“It’s really exciting. I’m really looking forward to it and happy,” Hoehn said. “It’s just a great moment.”
“I’m just ready to get to work and keep on going,” Hoehn continued. “I’m really excited that I got a teammate going (to MSU-Northern to play football).”
“I’m just ready for the future and what it holds,” Hoehn said.
Football is a family sport. Dalgarno and Hoehn have been tied to the hip in Great Falls for years. Dalgarno explained the significance of their careers intersecting and continuing on at the next level.
“It means a lot,” Dalgarno said. “There were 45 of us on the freshman field my first year. Coming all the way through, (there were) only 11 seniors this year.”
“Now, there’s only two of us that are going on to play college ball,” Dalgarno continued. “The fact that we’re going to the same spot is really cool.”
Coach Jerome Souers and MSU-Northern will be releasing a full list of the recruits signed to play ball at MSU-Northern in 2025. Follow along to New Media Broadcasters when that comes out.
