After the Class ‘B’ girls won (85-64) over Class ‘AA’ and Class ‘AA’ boys avenged that loss with a (101-90) win over Class ‘B’, the consolation and championship games at the 2025 Hi-Line Invitational basketball tournament were set.
Opening up play was Class ‘AA’ dominating over Class ‘C’ in the girls’ consolation, (100-65). Big Sandy’s Eva Yeadon contributed four points in the defeat for Class ‘C’. Scobey’s Kaytie Anastad was the leading point-getter for Class ‘C’ with 14, followed by DGSG’s BriElla Becker and Maggie Eike, each with 13.
The boys’ consolation featured Classes ‘B’ and ‘C’ and it was ‘C’ who ended up coming back and winning, (87-78). Bohdi Brenden had a good outing for ‘B’, scoring 20 points to tie for the team lead. His Malta teammate Dawson Hammond, scored four points in the loss.
Next up was Class ‘A’ girls and the Class ‘B’ girls for the title and Class ‘A’ ended up winning, (73-55). Ariana Gary of Havre led the team with 20 points to go along with nine boards. Amaya Jarvis recorded five points and five steals. Miles City superstar Jillian Kanduch contributed 12 points in the win. ‘A’ was able to hold Player of the Year Paige Lofing to a single point.
Finally, Class ‘AA’ won the boys’ championship over Class ‘A’, (105-72). ‘AA’ had four players in double-figures. At the end of it all, Blue Pony Tre Gary finished as the assists leader, while Matt Huse ended up getting the most steals in the tournament.
