Havre track and field showed out again over the weekend in Lockwood for the Billings Invite with another top finish by the girls’. They would have to turn right about around and go to the Golden Eagle Invite in Lewistown, where both the boys’ and girls’ finished top-5 New Media Broadcasters chatted with head coach Kari Filius and she offered some words of encouragement for both meet performances.
“Well, the Billings meet was really fun to see because it was so competitive,” Filius said. “It was really nice to see us rise to the competitive stage and do well.”
“It was a quick turnaround for the weather for Lewistown,” Filius continued. “We were not sure if we had enough recovery time. We had a couple days.”
“But I was really proud of them for competing in that sort of a turnaround,” Filius said. “It was a beautiful day (in Lewistown), so that helped.”
Now that Easter Break has coincided with the weather, Filius discussed what the next plans for Havre track and field are.
“We’ll give them the Easter Break (off) definitely this weekend because we had two close meets,” Filius said. “And then, come back at it on Monday.”
“Get some good workouts in early in the week,” Filius continued. “But we’ll have a recovery time over the weekend just to regroup and then start again for next week.”
The next scheduled Havre Track and Field Meet is in Glendive for the Dawson County Meet on Apr. 25.
