(NMB) The Havre Blue Ponies softball team ended their regular season in Butte last weekend. The Ponies finished 12 and 10 overall and 6 and 2 in the Northeast “A” conference. With the 2nd place finish in conference play the Ponies earned one of the two automatic berths to this years State Tournament. Head coach Tony Vigliotti reflected on the regular season and looked ahead to this year’s State Tournament.
“We were happy with the regular season, like any softball season, we had our ups and downs. You go through streaks, good and bad. Our first goal of the season was to finish in the top two in our conference and get one of automatic bids to the State Tournament, and we’ve done that. We played a lot of softball the last couple of weeks, so, we’re going to take a couple of days off the beginning of this week. We’ve got about 10 days until the State Tournament, and then we’ll get together and start preparing for the State Tournament and I think down the stretch we’ve played some pretty good softball and hopefully we can keep that going into the State Tournament in a couple weeks.”
This Year’s Class “A” State Tournament Runs May 22nd through the 24th in Columbia Falls. Havre’s First game will be Thursday May 22nd at 1pm versus a team yet to be determined.
