Chinook Girls 2nd, Boy 4th At Northern “B” Track

(Great Falls) – The Northern B Boys and Girls Divisional Track and Field Meet concluded on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls. The top six athletes in each event qualify for State. Malta Mustang Dawson Hammond was the champion in the Boys 200 meters in a time of 23.20 seconds. Also qualifying in the 200 meters in Carson Nissen of the Chinook Sugarbeeters. The 800 meters saw two Blaine County Boys qualify, Jayvon Big Knife from the Harlem Wildcats and Owen Davies of Chinook. The Boys 3200 meters has three Wildcasts and a Sugarbetter qualified for state. Harlem’s Ethan Walker finished first in the event, in a time of 10 minutes, and 13.28 seconds. Joining Walker at state will be his teammates Treyton Mount and Orion Cuts the Rope. Britt Powell from Chinook will represent the Sugarbeeters in the Boys 3200 meters. Kael Young from Malta qualified in the 300-meter hurdles. In the boys 4 by 100-meter relay the Malta Mustangs will have an opportunity to earn a state title while in the 4 by 400-meter relay the Chinook Sugarbeeters will have the same opportunity. As we head to the field events, Chinook’s Carson Nissen is the Northern B Champion in the long jump with a jump of 21 feet 4 inches. He will be joined at state by teammate Patrick Mackenzie, and Mason Simanton of Malta.The Mustang’s Trooper Stiles qualified in the Pole Vault. In the team race Chinook placed 4th with 66 points.

As we look at the girls results, In the 200-meter dash, Chinook’s Charley Nissen finished 4th securing her spot at state. The 800 Meter event saw two Sugarbeeters going to state in Ashlyn Ford and Alexus Seymour. Ford earned her second event at state as she won the 3200 meters in a time of 12 minutes and 8.38 seconds. She will be joined by Seymour and Neva  Lowe. The Harlem Wildcats are sending Jaspen Camel in this event. The Harlem Wildcats qualified in the 4 by 100-meter relay as did the Chinook Girls in the 4 by 400 relay. A 5th place finish by Karlie LaBrie of the Malta Mustangs is sending her to state in the 300-meter hurdles. Switching to the field events The Girls High jump has two area athletes going to state in Kendall Clausen from Malta and Tearia Sunchild of Harlem. Another Wildcat, Raelynn Briere is going to state in the Triple Jump. Malta’s Clausen is the Northern B Champion in the Javelin with a throw of 119 feet 2 inches. She will be joined at state by three other area athletes. Her teammates Miquela Red Eagle and Emree Stuart along with Chinook’s Hannah Schoen . The Sugarbeeters finished second in the girls team race scoring 88 points.

The Class B State Track and Field Meet will be held in Missoula next weekend.
