(NMB) The Havre Blue Pony softball team finished the regular season in second place in the Northeast conference and qualified for this week’s State softball tournament Thursday through Saturday in Columbia Falls. Head Coach Tony Vigliotti talked about what his expectations are for his team heading into the State Tournament.
“We just expect to play well. I think down the stretch of the season, we played pretty good softball. When you get to the state tournament, every team is good, so you have to play your best and get a break or two and take advantage of it. Throughout the course of the year, we’ve played nine of the teams at the state tournament. We know we can compete, now it just comes down to execution and playing your best.”
The Ponies will open up the State Tournament on Thursday at 1pm versus Lockwood.
Other first round matchups are Dillon versus East Helena, Columbia Falls and Hamilton and Billings Central will take on Stevensville.
Polson, Laurel, Fergus and Frenchtown have first round byes.
