HAVRE, Mont. — A landowner in the Bears Paw Mountains shot and killed a grizzly bear early June 11th after finding it threatening his dogs near his porch.
The man was uninjured, and Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks says it marks the first such incident in the area.
While grizzly bears are uncommon in the region, sightings have increased in recent years.
FWP urges residents to take precautions, including securing attractants and carrying bear spray.
