HAYS, Mont. — 56-year-old Chantel Lee King of Hays pleaded not guilty last week to federal charges including witness tampering and failure to report child abuse.
The superseding indictment includes four counts related to incidents in 2020, when King was employed in education on tribal lands.
If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison.
King was released pending further proceedings.
The FBI investigated this case, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasized that all charges are allegations until proven in court.
