(NMB) The 78th annual Montana East/West Shrine football game takes place in Great Falls on Saturday night. This year’s game has five Hi-Line kids representing the East squad including three Havre Blue Ponies. Cornerbacks Colter Solomon and Tre Gary and running back Tate Nelson. Playing wide receiver is Box Elder’s Tracen Jilot, and from Malta, defensive end Blaine Downing and quarterback Stockton Oxarat.
The best football players from the state not only get to compete but help raise money to make the public aware of the expert orthopedic and burn care available at Children’s Shriner’s Hospital in Spokane. Expert care is provided regardless of the family’s ability to pay. In recent years the Montana game has been the top High School Shrine game in the nation for hospital donations. Over the last 10 years the game has raised over 1 million dollars.
The game kicks off at 7pm Saturday inside Memorial Stadium in Great Falls.
