BUTTE, Mont. — The Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners has voted to display the Pride flag at the county courthouse for the remainder of June.
The decision followed a public meeting where residents voiced both support and opposition.
Supporters cited the flag’s symbolism of diversity and inclusion, while opponents argued it favored one group over others.
The vote comes amid a new state law prohibiting political flags, including those related to sexual orientation, on public property.
Missoula recently designated the Pride flag as an official city flag to ensure its continued display.
