(NMB) The Havre Northstars ended their two-day Canada road trip with a sweep of the Vauxhall Spurs on Wednesday night with wins of 8 to 5 and 5 to 1.
Game one saw Havre take a 4 to nothing lead into the fifth, but Vauxhall scored 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a one run lead. Havre answered with 4 runs in the top of the seventh. The big blow in the inning was a two-run home run from Tommy Lewis. Colter Solomon and Conner Essert had multiple hits for Havre and Tommy Lewis drove in 3 runs. Tanner DeLarosa got the start on the mound and went 4 2/3 innings giving up one hit, no runs and struck out 5. Archer Sawdy and Tommy Lewis pitched the final 2 1/3 innings.
In the Game two 5 to 1 victory, Havre scored two runs in the first inning, added two more in the third and a single run in the seventh. Quinn Elliott picked up the complete game victory allowing just two hits, struck out eight and walked two. Offensively for Havre Ezra Pyle, Tyson Brandon and Teegan Solomon all had two hits. Tommy Lewis led the team with two RBI’s.
The Northstars are now 12 and 2 in Conference play and have two more conference games at home Sunday vs the Lethbridge Miners.
