HAVRE, Mont. — The Hill County Health Department reports the first harmful algal bloom of the 2025 season was observed on June 24th at Beaver Creek Reservoir, also known as First Lake.
Harmful algal blooms, or HABs, are caused by overgrowth of cyanobacteria, which can produce toxins that pose risks to humans and animals.
Residents and visitors are advised to use caution when recreating in local waters this summer.
If a bloom is spotted, avoid contact, take a photo, and report it online.
