Survey: Montana Fourth of July Cookouts to Cost Nearly $74, Second-Highest on Record

Mont. — The 2025 American Farm Bureau Fourth of July Marketbasket Survey shows Montana families can expect to spend $73.50 to host a cookout for 10 guests this Independence Day.

That’s slightly above the national average of $70.92 and just 30 cents below last year’s record-high.

Price increases were seen in ground beef, potato salad, and pork and beans, while pork chops and hamburger buns are down.

The Farm Bureau notes farmers receive only about 15% of each food dollar, as production costs remain high.
