Skylights Becky Melcher Leading by example

Havre, MT – The MSU-Northern Skylights have started off the season 1-1 and have been lead by Senior guard Becky Melcher.

Melcher is in her second year as a Skylight after transferring from Miles Community College before the 2024-25 season. In year one at northern Melcher averaged seven points per game but through two games this year is averaging 19 points per game with 19 points in the season opener and 21 points against Waylon Baptist when she put up 13 points in the third quarter and finished the game 6-7 from deep.

Head coach for the Skylights Chris Mouat spoke to his seniors performance this season.

“Becky works extremely hard at the game. She has made huge strides form last year. In the testing and the shooting that we do she has been at the top of list for our team so its not really that much of a surprise for me. To go 6-7, I think that is an all time record at northern for percentage in a game with five attempts I believe. . . I was happy to see her hard work pay off.”

Melcher will lead the Skylights into their first conference game Thursday November 13, at the University of Providence with tipoff at 5p.m. and you can listen on KPQX.
