(NMB) Havre once again held its annual Community Christmas Dinner on Christmas day. This year’s dinner was in a new location, the St. Jude’s Parish Center and despite the icy conditions on Christmas Day, organizer Jay Hammond said they still fed almost five hundred people.
“So, we had three hundred go meals delivered and then we had one hundred seventy-eight that dined in and of those one hundred seventy-eight that dined in, ninety took go meals with them.”
A free Christmas dinner for the community doesn’t happen without plenty of volunteers who give up part of their Christmas Day. Hammond said they had forty volunteers.
“We had a volunteer sheet to sign up, and we had forty volunteers. That was between the cooking, the serving, the deliveries. Everything.”
Hammond also thanked the individuals and businesses for their generous donations to make sure the free community Christmas dinner continues.
