(NMB) Law Enforcement in Chinook is still looking for a suspected arsonist who set fire to the Masonic Temple Building in the early morning hours of December 25th. Chinook Police Chief Elmer Zarn gave New Media Broadcasters an update on the investigation.
“Some of the officers have went around and talked to all the local businesses that may have cameras that have seen anything and their looking at their video footage to see if it picked up anything. We haven’t heard back from anybody that has any video yet. Some store owners have called in with strange things that they’ve found behind their store and stuff and officers have picked them up and collected them. They’ve collected evidence from the fire scene itself.”
Zarn did say that the Blaine County Sherrif’s Office has video showing an individual breaking a window and starting the fire but it is dark and from a distance away. They do have a general description and clothing description of the perpetrator.
The Masonic temple building sustained a broken window, damaged carpet, window coverings and extensive smoke damage inside the building.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Chinook Police Department at 406-357-3170.
