Havre, MT – Both MSU-Northern basketball programs are back in action this Friday and Saturday with a pair of road games in North Dakota.
The Lights and Skylights will take on Valley City State and Mayville State in their first conference games out of the holiday break.
Head coach of the Lights, Shawn Huse, explains how preparation and organization can make all the difference on a long rod trip.
“In terms of being very organized handling your travel well, getting good rest, being on point with film work, your shootaround, your meals, the timing and all those things there is a lot of orchestration that’s got to be in place a head of time. Once you’ve got that in then its just a matter following through on that and playing your game. At the end of the day you’re still playing a game of five on five.” Huse said.
The Skylights are looking for their sixth conference win in eight games and head coach Chris Mouat knows winning on the road this week will not be easy.
“Yeah on the road, two different environments, places we haven’t been in a long time. I think getting in and settling in as soon as we possible can as far as our style of play. Both teams have some weapons and some kids that can really hurt you and do good things. We know that first one is going to pretty hard then we got to get on the buss and head to Mayville the next day. I think our travel is pretty unique with where we’re at but I think they have adjusted to that pretty well this year.” Coach Mouat said.
