Rencurel Changes Plea to Guilty of Deliberate Homicide

(NMB) Cody Rencurel, 37 appeared in District Court in Havre on Wednesday afternoon and changed his plea from not guilty, to guilty of deliberate homicide in the

death of 35-year-old Dixie “Diz” Schroeder. On May 7th, 2025, Havre Police officers responded to the 300 block of 14th avenue and found Schroeder dead on

the scene. Havre Police Department and Hill County Sheriff’s office investigated the scene, with investigative help from the Montana Division of

Criminal Investigation, suspected foul play and determined that Rencurel was a person of interest, had Schroeder’s vehicle and had fled to the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

area. Agents and officers worked jointly with Idaho’s Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and took Rencurel into custody on May 8th 2025. Sentencing has been set for

March 16th at 1:30pm in Hill the Hill County Courthouse. District Judge Katie Snipes Ruiz presided over the proceedings.
