Senior Center Open for Activities Only

(Havre) – At last week’s Hill County Commission meeting, the commissioners provided an update and answered questions from the public about the current status of the Havre Senior Center.

The center has reopened to the public this week for activities only. Meals are still delivery only and you can register for meals by calling the senior center at 406-265-5464. In response to questions from the public the commissioners stated that no employees are on paid administrative leave. When asked about a volunteer board for the center, Interim Director Sheri Williams said they have started to receive applications to serve on the board.

A public question was asked about why Commissioner Bill Lanier is not the interim director of the center since he is a former full time director. Commissioner Lanier stated that Commissioner Williams was the interim director before when he resigned, and she wanted the interim director position again. Commission chair Jake Strissel emphasized to those in attendance that while Commissioner Williams is the Interim Director, all three commissioners are working as a team on the Havre Senior Center.

The commissioners will be providing updates on the Havre Senior Center at their business meeting which takes place Thursday at 2pm in the commissioner’s office.
