(NMB) The filing deadline for those running for office in the 2026 primary election closes next Wednesday March 4th. As of yesterday, those that have filed for positions in Hill County are. Sandy Brown, Hill County Treasurer. Stanley Martin has filed for Hill County Sheriff, Hill County Clerk and Recorder Lexis Dockter will run for re-election. Auditor Kathy Olson has filed to run again. For Hill County Commissioner District 1, Incumbent Jake Strissel has filed. He will be challenged by Christine Wold. Seeking the Justice of the Peace position is Mane (Muh-nay) Acosta and Vicki Proctor has filed to run again for County Superintendent of Schools.
In statewide races, Republicans Eric Albus from Glasgow and Mark Wicks of Inverness have filed to run for Senate District 14. Democrat Incumbent Paul Tuss of Havre will run to keep his seat in House District 27 and Mike Fox of Hays; the Democrat Incumbent will seek reelection to House District 27.
The Filing period was shortened from 60 to 15 days with the passage of House Bill 207
The Primary will be held on June 2nd, 2026, with the General election taking place November 3rd.
