Candidate Filings Now Closed: Who’s Running in Hill County?

(Havre) – Wednesday was the deadline for candidate to file for open positions in the 2026 Primary and General Election. In Hill County, there will be two contested races in the primary.

The Hill County Commissioner District 1 races, has Incumbent Democrat Jacob Strissel will face Democrat Brett Moen in the primary, the winner of the primary will face Republican Christine Wold in the general election.

Two Democrat candidates have filed in the Hill County Treasurer race. Incumbent Sandra “Sandy” Brown is facing Jalyn Kinsella.

Hill County Clerk and Recorder (Lexis Dockter), Sheriff (Stan Martin), County Attorney (Lacey Lincoln), Superintendent of Schools (Vicky Proctor), Justice of the Peace (Mane Acosta), and Auditor (Kathy Olson) all had one only one-person file for those positions.

Montana’s primary election will be held on Tuesday June 2nd, and the General Election will be Tuesday November 3rd.
