Become a more effective advocate for agriculture through a Montana Farmers Union’s Legislative Advocacy Training for Farmers and Ranchers workshop to be held 6-8 p.m., March 30, at Memorial Ambulance Fort Benton in Fort Benton.
The free, public training is part of a statewide series of workshops being offered by the grassroots, non-partisan organization across the state. Attendees can expect hands-on activities to hone advocacy skills. Participants also will have the opportunity to share their priorities and how depressed commodity markets, consolidation, and the lack of a reauthorized Farm Bill impact their farms and ranches with current lawmakers and candidates.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to:
- share their legislative priorities ahead of the 2027 Montana Legislature,
- meet lawmakers, county commissioners, and candidates,
- learn how to use the state’s legislative website,
- practice calling legislators,
- write a draft Letter to the Editor, and
- learn how to become involved in MFU’s legislative efforts on behalf of family farmers and ranchers.
