Road Construction to Begin Near Neihart

(Neihart, MT) — The United States Forrest Service has announce that the Helena–Lewis and Clark National Forest will begin a major reconstruction project approximately 3 miles south of Neihart, Montana where Highway 89 meets the Jefferson Road (Forest Service Road 267). Work is anticipated to begin May 26 and conclude before Labor Day.
This project will improve 3.4 miles of roadway to enhance public safety, protect natural resources and provide improved access on the Belt Creek-White Sulphur Springs Ranger District.
Work will include selective clearing; removal and replacement of existing corrugated steel pipe culverts; installation of new culverts and French drains; construction of drivable dips, shoulder stabilization with riprap; new aggregate surfacing and comprehensive roadway reconditioning.
