(Havre) – Hill County Superintendent of Schools Victoria Proctor said in a press release that Monica Mattson, a previous 20-year teacher at Cottonwood West, has been awarded the prestigious “Excellence in Education” award. It represents the highest honor available from this organization and chooses to recognize the professional who reaches into their students’ lives through involvement in professional outreach. In this collaboration, Mattson has worked with local, state and county agencies to make schools a better place for students and also a better place for teachers to enjoy their profession.
Recently, Mattson was also awarded the Montana Rural Teacher of the Year Award and is in competition for the National Rural Teacher of the Year Award.
