(Montana) With the emergence of New World Screwworm in Texas and New Mexico, Governor Greg Gianforte told New Media Broadcasters his thoughts on Montana’s plan to help prevent the spread into the state.
“I was proud of the fact that the Department of Livestock had an emergency response plan in place, very quickly acted to make sure that Screwworm doesn’t have a welcome mat coming into Montana, and in fact we’ve put up barriers. We don’t want livestock coming here who might’ve been exposed, it can quickly get into dogs in South Texas, cattle. I think we’re gonna get the upper hand on this, but we can’t let it get into Montana.”
