MSUN Metabolism Study Results

Back in April, adult women in the Havre community were invited to take part in a Montana State University Northern research project that measures resting metabolism and would provide insight into overall wellness. The Research, led by professor of Integrated Health Sciences Dr. Chad Spangler said the test would measure oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production to determine how much energy the body uses at rest and what fuel sources- fat, carbohydrates, or protein the body relies on for energy.

Dr. Spangler and MSU Northern summer scholar students will share their research on resting metabolism and present preliminary findings from their ongoing study. The presentation will take place on Tuesday July 21st at Noon and 6pm in the Hagener Science Building. The session will last less that 45 minutes and include questions and answers. The presentation is free and open to the public. Attendees can tour the research lab and light refreshments will be served.
