Drivers on First Street in Havre should prepare for altered traffic patterns this week as crews push forward on a $3.5 million pavement preservation project. The Montana Department of Transportation and A-Core Concrete Specialists are tackling a two-point-three-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 2.
Due to unforeseen factors, work originally scheduled for last week is taking place right now. Crews are currently working on both eastbound and westbound lanes, grinding shallow recesses into the pavement to install new markings. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction through active work zones. While delays are expected to be minimal, transit speeds are capped between 25 and 35 miles per hour.
