The National Weather Service has issued a marginal risk for severe storms on Sunday afternoon and evening. The primary threat area spans the northern portions of the region, specifically between Cut Bank and Harlem.
Forecasters warn that the strongest storms during this window will likely produce frequent lightning and strong wind gusts. In addition to severe weather, a significant heavy rain potential develops Sunday and extends into Labor Day on Monday. Widespread rainfall amounts of one to two inches are expected across northern areas, including Glacier Park.
Weather models indicate a worst-case scenario could bring up to four inches of rain to isolated locations. Because regional river levels are currently low, major flooding is not anticipated, but any localized rainfall exceeding three inches may cause minor flooding on small streams and creeks.
