(Bozeman) – A Montana State University alumnus is receiving one of the university’s highest honors. Michael Ferris will be presented with the prestigious Blue and Gold Award this Friday as part of MSU’s homecoming festivities.
The award honors individuals who have rendered excellent lifetime service or brought national or international distinction to the university or the state of Montana.Ferris, a Choteau native, graduated from MSU in 1968 with a degree in chemical engineering and went on to a distinguished business career, including serving as CEO of Pioneer Companies.
Together with his wife, Donna, Ferris has maintained a lifelong connection to the university. Over the past five decades, the couple has supported MSU through leadership and philanthropy, with their contributions and planned estate gifts exceeding one million dollars. Their generosity has funded numerous scholarships in engineering and natural sciences, as well as the Presidential and Hilleman Scholars programs.
