A Competitive Grant

HELENA – A new competitive grant is becoming available for Montana communities. The grant aims to help kids succeed in and out of school.

Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), the Montana Office of Public Instruction (OPI) receives funding that is sub-granted to local communities through a competitive process. This grant connects learning programs before school, after school, and during the summer months for families that meet economic thresholds.

Qualifying public and nonpublic schools and community programs will receive federal grant awards between $70,000 and $250,000 a year for five years. During the last grant cycle, which was the Fiscal Year 2020, there were 11 approved applications.
