HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – HRDC District IV is here to help adults with basic literacy adult education.
Tricia Williams Ferry is the District IV HRDC Adult Education Director for the program, which assists those 16 and older with enhancing educational skills with basic literacy, workplace literacy, high school equivalency preparation, and other services.
“Our biggest focus is on helping people who don’t have a high school diploma get their high school equivalency. And I’m particularly interested in getting the word out because I know that school has been really difficult the last couple of years, particularly for high school students who maybe fell through the cracks because online school (didn’t work well for them), or they were sick themselves and fell behind.”
Ferry says they are here to prepare adults for the HiSET High School Equivalency test and have financial aid available for those that can’t afford the $75 exam fee.
“We would hate for the only thing to keep somebody from taking their HiSET to be paying that fee. So the United Way has very generously made a great donation to our program, and it can cover the costs for the tests. So that is just a wonderful, wonderful thing to be able to do.”
