HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Attorney General Tim Fox is urging parents to review basic safety precautions with their children before the go trick-or-treating and to check Montana’s Sexual or Violent Offender Registry online to ensure their children avoid a potentially dangerous situation.
A press release says that in addition to recommending adults always accompany young children, Fox suggests taking children only to familiar neighborhoods on Halloween night. Costumes with lights or bright colors are best. Remind children to wait to eat treats until an adult can inspect them. Parents should throw away any goodies that appear to be tampered with or are not commercially wrapped.
You can go online to Montana’s Sexual and Violent Offender Registry and register for free e-mail notifications to be automatically notified whenever a sexual or violent offender moves into a zip code of interest to subscribers.
