HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Once again, the Havre Food Bank and the Havre Service Center of the Salvation Army are teaming up to help provide Easter food baskets to low income and needy families in the area.
Trina Crawford is the local Emergency Services Director for the Salvation Army and says that people can sign up by calling 406-265-6411 or visiting their office at 328 3rd Street in Havre.
“The documentation that is needed is a picture ID for the person that is filling out the application, social security cards for every family member – that is a Food Bank rule – proof of residency – like a power bill or something with a physical address on it – and then proof of income. If there’s any challenges with any of those things, just call us and we could maybe talk it through with them. We sure want as many people as we can, so we’ll do what we can.”
Crawford says the baskets will feature a traditional Easter meal.
“We will have a meat, possibly a ham or possibly a turkey. There will be a potato, there will be side dishes, there will be a dessert, there will be rolls. That’s kind of what we do, just kind of like a normal Easter dinner, just having a little bit more than you’d normally do for a normal dinner.”
Families must be no more than 200 percent above the poverty level to qualify.
