Area Wrestlers Place at C.M.R. Tournament

The Havre High School wrestling team, along with many other area teams, were in Great Falls over the weekend for the C.M.R. Holiday Tournament. For the Ponies, three wrestlers placed with Orion Thivierage leading the way to take a second place finish. Kale Vancapen went 6-1 over the two day event and took third, furthermore Randy Tommerup placed eighth. The Havre High School girls wrestling team also had a pair of placers at the C.M.R. Tournament, as Malia Fussey and Clare Laird each took second in their respective weight classes.

For the Chinook wrestling team, they had two placers among their team on the boys side of the tournament; with Tyler Shane finishing fourth at 170 pounds, Wyatt Dunbar finishing fourth in heavy weight, and Grace Buck finishing sixth for the Chinook girls team.

In college wrestling action, MSU-Northern’s Isaac Bartel took second at the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions while competing at 197 pounds. Bartel won four out of five matches with two falls. In other college wrestling news, Parker Fillius picked up a major decision in his 141 pound match as Purdue lost to Iowa State in a duel meet.
