Authorities ID Geraldine Man Killed in Rollover

CHOUTEAU COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The Chouteau County Sheriff’s Office says the Geraldine man who was killed in a rollover crash in Chouteau County early Sunday morning has been identified as Eric Thomas Burtchett, 25.

Burtchett was driving a Ford F150 westbound on Panton Road at 2:13 AM and drifted onto the right shoulder. He then corrected back sharply to the left and overcorrected back to the right.

The vehicle rotated counterclockwise and left the road edge, tripped and rolled onto its roof.

Burtchett was declared dead at the scene, while the passenger, a 28-year-old Geraldine man, was life-flighted to a Great Falls Hospital. His condition is not known.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.

The road was dry.
