(Kalispell) – A portion of the Cedar Flats trail complex north of Columbia Falls remains closed following a bear attack on Monday evening.
State and federal wildlife officials say a woman walking her dog was attacked around 7:00 p.m. Investigators searched the area using a thermal infrared drone but were unable to locate the animal.
The victim sustained significant injuries and was transported to Logan Health Medical Center for treatment. The species of the bear is currently unknown, and the investigation by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and the U.S. Forest Service is ongoing.
