Bear Paw Ski Bowl to Open Sunday

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Bear Paw Ski Bowl will open for its 59th season this Sunday, January 12th.

Dave Martens, Sr., says recent snowfall has put their snowpack at the level they need to open to the public.

“We have a good base but that warm weather really knocked our snowpack off. So last week we got 14 inches, and that kind of put us back in the ballgame. So we’ve been grooming and just trying to get the hill ready.”

Martens says Saturday will be used as the final day of prep for the volunteer-run ski bowl.

“We’ve got lift operators that have to run through some training programs and ski patrol has to set up their stuff, toboggan training and what not. Just fine-tuning everything for opening on Sunday.”

Martens says they are also fine-tuning the rope tow, and that it will likely be ready to go for Sunday when the hill opens at 10:30 AM.
