(Havre) – On October 21st the Great Northern Fairgrounds will host the Beaver Creek Jam. Frank English the manager of the Great Northern Fair talks about the event.
“Alright, so the Beaver Creek Jam is going to be held October 21st at the Great Northern Fairgrounds we have the band Rail, the first band to win the MTV video challenge of some sort, and they won a bunch of money and got an opportunity to tour around with bands like Def Leopard. We have Blue Tattoo also a very popular band around Montana mostly known for their shows at rock and rivers and then we have purple evolution which is another all-Montana band which is a Deep Purple cover with locals like Stuart Mackay and Steve Keller form the radio stations in Great Falls.”
He goes on to talk about what the money from the event will be going toward.
“The money for the Beaver Creek Jam we’ll pool it up for the Veterans Memorial Campground we’d like to build in Beaver Creek Park.”
He also talks about what inspired the idea to make the Veterans Memorial Campground.
“Well, everyone has campgrounds in Beaver Creek Park from memorials to the HPPA, The Firemans Campground, Lions, Pagers. Well, there was no veteran’s campground and so we found a place that would make a great campground and we thought the veterans had earned it that we should probably have something like that out there for them.”
He continues by explaining how far they’ve gotten on the campground’s construction.
“Oh, were just trying to make the money. Our biggest hurdle is trying to get across the creek and some people say we need a box culvert which is $140,000 and some people say we can get away with a bridge. So, we’re just building the money right now because that’s a lot of money to raise, our last beaver Creek Jam we made about $10,000 that goes to this and we just started our own 501C3 so that’s where that money goes and we’re just going to build it up until we can figure out what to do with that. Then we’ll work with the park board, and we’ll see what they want to do with it, if they approve it and we’ll just have to work with them.”
He finishes by talking about the pumpkin carving competition.
“Alright so at the Beaver Creek Jam there’s going to be games and prizes for everybody but also there will be a pumpkin carving competition sponsored by Gary and Leo’s IGA. They’re donating me 30 pumpkins and we figured we’ll have pumpkin carving competition for the kids and then when you’re done you get to take your pumpkin home and have 10 days before Halloween to enjoy your freshly carved Jack-o-lantern.”
