HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – Troy Downing, Montana’s Commissioner of Securities and Insurance, says that with spring just around the corner, the public should be aware of the dangers of spring flooding.
In a recent public service announcement, Downing stated that a homeowner’s insurance policy does not typically cover flood damage. That means now is the time to evaluate your flood risk and consider purchasing flood insurance.
In many cases, flood insurance takes 30 days to take effect after being purchased.
More information on flood insurance is available at FloodSmart.gov. For Montana-based information, visit CSIMT.gov or call 406-444-2040.
