HAVRE, Mont (NMB) – Two years after a Christmas Eve fire destroyed a Big Equipment building just south of Havre, another fire has rendered a Big Equipment building west of Havre as a total loss.
Havre Fire received a call of a building burning around 6 AM Monday morning. Fire Chief Mel Paulson said crews were on the scene for about 11 hours. Although the fire was mostly contained around 8 AM, crews remained on scene until 5:30 PM mopping up hot spots and ensuring the fire wouldn’t reignite.
Along with the Havre Fire Department, crews from Chinook, Kremlin, Box Elder, Bear Paw, and Gildford were also on hand. In total there were about 10 trucks, four command vehicles and 25 personnel on scene, as well as authorities from the Hill County Sheriff’s Office doing traffic control.
Although the building is considered a total loss, some equipment, including tractors and tools, may be able to be salvaged.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
