BIG SANDY, Mont. (NMB) – A fire near Big Sandy was fully extinguished Wednesday evening, after burning about 80 acres of grass and stubble. Big Sandy Fire Chief Larry Ophus says that the fire originally started Tuesday night after a lightening strike. Crews thought the fire was out, but it flared up again on Wednesday afternoon. No crops were lost.
Ophus says that they got the call at about 1 PM and crews were on scene until about 5 PM, after making sure the fire was dead out. The fire was reported to be about two miles northwest of Big Sandy.
