BLAINE COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – More details are coming to light on the single-vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning in Blaine County.
The crash left one passenger dead and four people, including the driver, with injuries.
The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office has identified the passenger killed as 23-year-old Tyler James Cochran of Dodson.
The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old male from Hays, was transported to Northern Montana Hospital and is in stable condition.
One of the passengers, a 20-year-old female from Bozeman, remains at Benefis Hospital in stable condition.
The other two passengers, a 20-year-old female from Hays and a 20-year-old female from Havre, were released from Indian Health Service after being treated for minor injuries.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash occurred at around 1:10 AM near mile marker eight on secondary road 396, several miles east of Harlem.
A 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling westbound when the driver, a 20 year-old male from Hays, lost control. The vehicle went into a ditch and rolled approximately two times before coming to rest on the road.
None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be factors in the crash.
